Barclays Homstead to Camooweal 16th May, 2024

We left camp a little latter today at 8.00am as only had 260kms to travel and nothing to see on the way and nothing at our next sleepover place. Arrived about 11.30am at a small place called Camooweal. Terrible road not so much flood damage but just bumpy, patchy very uneven throwing us around a bit. We could have continued onto Mt Isa but we had had enough being bounced around. Just got the camping chairs out, found a bit of shade and did nothing much. It’s so hot still over 30 degrees but hopefully it might drop a bit as we go along and start dipping slightly south. Even hot at night after the cold nights in the desert areas. So this blog is all about nothing except we did cross over the NT / QLD border and now having first night in Queensland. So doing nothing just bits and pieces. Lost half hour in time so we are only two hours behind home.

Scenery definitely starting to change back to lush growth and no trees forever to the horizon. It does make a change from the all RED.

Crossing over a bridge and we have water. Probably after the big rain storm about four weeks ago up in this area. Makes a change from all the dried up river beds we have been crossing over the last couple of weeks.

Moving on trees ahead

Now we even have cows. Feel we are getting back into civilisation.

My favourite grasses

Just crossing over the NT / QLD border.

Sitting outside in the shade writing this and the wind has picked up. Thank goodness as I was melting. Much better. Heading through to Mt Isa tomorrow spending a few hours in town looking around and learning a bit about there mining history. Will take about two and a half hours driving from here in Camooweal. Then about one and half hours continuing on to our next spot tomorrow night in Cloncurry. We have been at that campsite before on our Queensland trip in 2019. But we are then taking a different route after there back to Brisbane. It’s all finally tuned to get us one night in a Motel at Brisbane Airport the night before we fly home.

Now signing off from a very nothing blog, mainly just to keep everyone up to date as to where we are and where we are heading. We will now be slowing down a little and having more two night stop overs, after tomorrow. Bit more relaxing after our very busy time in central OZ
