I said I wasn’t going to do a blog tonight but did want to record a few photos taken today. Left camp at Ghan at 7.15am arriving at Maui in Alice Springs by 10.00am. Had a few in house issues that needed attention. What a great staff. They couldn’t do enough for us, super team. On our way after that arriving at camp at 11.00am. Spent the rest of the day being very lazy relaxing in the van. Our five days in the Red Centre were amazing. Really recommend it. To complete what they call the Red Centre, includes the many places along the MacDonnell Range to explore. These lie west of Alice Springs. I did have 10 places but cut that back to eight due to the access with the van. Can’t risk any bad roads. We are planing to do this tomorrow.. if we don’t finish them all we can go back on Monday and finish them off.
On the road sun not long been up. A few small hills after all our flat straight road areas.
Getting a big contrast to what we have been seeing.
So todays road trip is all about the hills
Crossing over a dried up river. Saw a few today as getting into hilly country more water will flow in the wet season. Some of these would come up and over the bridge.
A long range of hills. In the distance I thought that they might have been the MacDonnell Range, but no way two small.
We have arrived at the famous Alice Springs. The approach to the town was, very clean and tidy. Road edges all mowed not what I was expecting. We didn’t drive through town today avoided that. Probably have a look on Monday might be quieter than the weekend.
Above and below the drive in to Alice, back into civilisation. Lots of grass, trees and a bit of town traffic.
After leaving Maui our few kms to camp. All these little Rocky stoney hills.
Settled in for the day. Another en-suite for three nights before we head further north.
Time to sit outside late afternoon enjoying the outdoors with no flies. What a treat. Having a cold ginger beer.
